Buttock Augmentation

As so many curvaceous women populate our popular culture, it shouldn’t be surprising to find out that cosmetic surgery for butt augmentation is becoming very popular. In Houston, Dr. Norris offers this procedure using both fat transfer (i.e. the Brazilian Butt Lift) and gluteal augmentation with implants.

If you’re in Houston and would like increased buttock projection, then one of these procedures may be right for you.

Who’s a Good Fit for Buttock Augmentation with fat transfer in Houston

Buttock augmentation in Houston is best for patients who desire larger, more shapely buttocks. In some cases, it can also help correct a disfiguring injury that has affected the buttocks as well. Through this procedure, you can realize aesthetic improvements in shape, projection and overall body proportion.

The Procedure: How Butt Augmentation Works

The Fat Transfer Technique

If fat grafting is the technique chosen for your butt augmentation, Dr. Norris will perform liposuction on a harvest site on your body. The fat is collected from a place on your body where excess, unnecessary fat is stored. The fat is then cleansed and purified. Using a fan pattern, the fat is injected into the buttocks. For proper placement, a brief massage of the area may be performed. After a sufficient amount of fat has been introduced, the incisions (for liposuction and the graft) will be closed.

Fat transfer is appealing for several reasons. By using natural tissue, Dr. Norris is able to achieve an effect that is both natural in appearance and feel.

The Implant Technique

Gluteal implants are also used to perform buttock augmentation in Houston. Through an incision in the buttock crease (where the buttocks meet the back of the thigh) an implant is placed inside a pocket of tissue. Implants come in different shapes and sizes to match the patient’s anatomy.

Recovery from Buttock Augmentation in Houston

After surgery, Dr. Norris will provide specific instructions for your recovery from butt augmentation. It is common for patients to experience some swelling, bruising and discomfort. Post-operative pain can be managed with a medication prescribed by Dr. Norris. During your consultation, you can learn more about possible side effects and aftercare for butt augmentation.

It is important to know that, in cases of fat transfer buttock augmentation, your body may reabsorb some of the injected fat. Some buttock augmentation procedures are performed in stages to reduce the chance of this happening.

Am I an ideal candidate for buttock augmentation?

Your surgeon will be able to determine whether or not you are an ideal candidate for surgery during the consultation process. Candidates seeking buttock augmentation should be 18 years of age or older, and desire a more defined backside. It is also essential that candidates possess good overall mental and physical health.

What are some of the risks associated with buttock augmentation?

As with all surgical procedures, there is a degree of risk associated with buttock augmentation. Surgery in general, presents the risk of infection, excessive bleeding or a negative reaction to anesthesia. If you elect the implant technique, complications may include implant shifting, rupture or asymmetry.

Will I experience significant pain following surgery?

It is realistic to anticipate some pain during the recovery process. Pain levels vary greatly among patients. Your surgeon is likely to prescribe medication to help manage any pain you may be feeling.

When can I resume normal activities after buttock augmentation?

Recovery times can vary significantly among patients. In general, patients who elect the fat transfer technique can expect to return to work and other every day activities within 10 days of surgery. Patients who elect the implant technique will require significantly more down time.

Are the results of buttock augmentation permanent?

In most cases the results will be permanent. Significant weight gain or weight loss may result in an altered appearance of the buttocks. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine will increase the probability of long lasting results.
